2nd Annual Mayor's Cup Public Debate

In early 2017, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings and the Dallas Urban Debate Alliance (DUDA) envisioned a public debate where the best Dallas ISD debaters could compete. The inaugural Mayor’s Cup Public Debate was a huge success. The 2nd Annual Public Debate highlighted four outstanding Dallas ISD debaters. Students competed at the spectacular Debate Chamber at Old Parkland. Alex More, Partner, Carrington Coleman served as the moderator of the debate. 

Sponsors included: 

The Jim Thompson Foundation; Baker Botts; Dawn and Craig Budner; Calabrese Budner LLP; Carrington Coleman; Gardere Wynne Sewell; K&L Gates; the Prince Henry Charitable Foundation; and The Law Office of William Fouché.

Judges included: Craig Budner K&L Gates, Laura Collins, George Bush Presidential Center;  Dena Jackson, Dallas Women's Foundation; and Elizabeth Phillip, Dallas Bar Foundation.

Topic: Resolved: The City of Dallas should cooperate fully with Federal immigration law.
